Question of the Tuesday

Since I was absent from English on Monday, here is my Question.

Whats the purpose of religion? I read somewhere its because people want to feel like a part of a larger...thing, but why? I don't want to feel like my life is controlled by an omnipotent all-knowing "God". I want Free Will! So if "God" does control Christians, lives, then shouldn't they make pefect choices because that's what "God" told them to do? However, all Christians obviously aren't perfect. Take the Kool-Aid massacre (Jonesville, i think) if the preacher was told to do it by "God" why would he/she tell Jones too? Why would killing ninety people be beneficial to humanity? Is "God" just in some big "Deep in the Dungeon" game (if you're not in Honors Math, DitD is a thing for probablilities with paths, and you have to choose random paths, and find out where you end up, more or less), just geussing wether something will positively affect humanity, or is there just a big Plan that will execute itself anyhow?

  1. OK trevor. Christians do not believe that they are controlled by God. God gives us free will to choose any path we want. Though He has the power to control our every move and word, he does not. Christians believe that all humans sin (do wrong things). Christians sin. To become a christian you do not have to instantly stop sinning. And since God is perfect, sin seperates us from him. Christians also believe that God sent his one and only son to earth as a human(Jesus). Jesus never sinned in all his life. He was born (christmas) of a virgin, and thus not born into sin. Jesus was nailed by his hands and feet on a cross to die. Though Jesus had never sinned he bore the wieght of the entire worlds sin, so that we may be forgiven. Jesus' body was placed in a tomb and after 3 days he came back to life. (easter). Because of this the Lord can forgive us for our sins and we can go to heaven. Furthermore, God doesn't just ignore us, he knows your very name, and the number of hairs on your head. He knows every thought you have had, every word you have spoken, and still he loves you. He loves us with a Love greater than any human mind could fathom. He is beyond all understanding. He wants a relationship with you. He offers deep peace, overwhelming joy, sweet love, amazing hope, and the freedom of being washed clean of sin. And, to top it aoll off, eternal life in heaven. For more information read the bible, or ask me about Jesus, or visit a church.
