A letter

Dear Kids,

Ms. Claus is on her deathbed. We're not immortal, you know. As such, I will not be delivering presents this year. A man from the 1800's has been pestering me to allow him to deliver presents

once. His name is Ebeneezer. Scrooge, I think. Ebeneezer Scrooge, that's it. 

The Elve's records detail his lonely childhood, and humbug adulthood. But strangely, his last Christmas was a happy one. I believe my cousins, the ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Yet to Come, may have had something to do with that.... Anyway, I'm letting E. deliver presents this year.

The reindeer, especially Vixen, dislike the whip, and E. seems like a whipper....

It might be best to leave some ointments out for the reindeer. E. doesn't seem like a cookie guy. I'd say a biscuit for him. (They call cookies biscuits in England.) Londeners are strange ones. I'm glad I come from Canada. 

If you simply must know, my mother was an Inuit, killed in an igloo collapse, and my father was the previous Santa Claus.

No school

Not to sound like a goody-two-shoes or anything, but the fact that they closed school is disappointing, to say the least. Why did they even close on Wednesday? It was fine where I was. (I was watching the news, and all the buses were snowed in, but those were Seattle buses...) On Thursday and Friday, it made sense to close. But know we have to go back on the 5th, instead of whenever we would go back. If you think about it, on Thursday and Friday, I doubt we'd have done much. In Honors Math, we were going to make geometrical snowflakes (better than regular stuff, at least) in Gym, we were going to at least have the chance to win stuff. In English, we were planning on watching the Muppets. In Drama, I'm sure nothing would get done, I don't know about Mr. Tupper, but I'd say that even he'd be a little lax. In Science, we would probably do fun stuff. Now we trade it all in for a work day or two. Blech. At least we have weeks to work on our brochures. We'll all probably get A's because of all this time. 

In related news...Obama is sworn in in a month, and Bushie gets kicked out! YAYY!!!  (no offense to Republicans).

I vote we have a inauguration day party (part Obama-sworn in, part Bushie kicked out).

Story

Okay, this time the prologue and the first chapter is out. I know the chapter is short, I have an annoying habit of writing short chapters. The teaser was originally the beginning, but has been moved to the start of Chapter Two. Chapter Two is almost complete, expect it toward Tuesday or Wednesday.

Yellow Journalism

Well this really isn't journalism...but in the three (3) presidential debates and the one (1) gubernatorial debate, all four (4) candidates omitted lots of facts. Also the campaign ads, for the gubernatorial candidates (I didn't see many presidential ones, and the one (1) I did see didn't really bash their opponent...).

Why can girls kick so much harder than guys?

A little technical difficulties with my story...here's the first bit:

Chapter 1
A thunderous crash shook the building as I dove under the
checkout desk. A last standing shelf crashed through the computer
next to me, narrowly missing my left hand. At long last the
rumbling stopped and I crawled out from the desk.
My foot kicked a copy of Where the Red Fern Grows across
the floor. I picked it up and mournfully stuck in my pack.
I climbed up onto the destroyed remains of the massive
skylight array. Mt. Rainier smoked in the distance. A flicker of
light caught my eye before all went black.

I know its short.
I'd appreciate input...don't forget to vote for your fave (read: mine)
